Quotebook collects as little as it can get away with. This page says exactly what that is, where it goes, and how to get rid of it.

How photos are checked

Before a photo appears to anyone, it is checked automatically for sexual content, graphic violence, and content involving minors. The check is done by Anthropic, whose Claude model looks at the photo alone — not your name, your email, or the quote it belongs to — and returns allow or reject. Anthropic does not use data sent this way to train its models. A rejected photo is deleted immediately. The app asks for your agreement before your first photo is sent.

Services we use

Your data reaches these services, each only for the job listed, and no others:

Who can see your quotes

A quote is visible to the members of the quotegroup you posted it to, and to nobody else. This is enforced by row-level security in the database, not merely hidden in the app.

Blocking someone removes both of you from each other's view entirely.

Where it is stored

Data is stored with Supabase, our hosting and database provider, on servers in the United States. Passwords are never stored in readable form and never reach the app — authentication is handled entirely by Supabase.

Your appearance and notification preferences stay on your device and are never uploaded.

What we never do

Deleting everything

Profile → Delete account removes your account, your profile, the quotes you wrote, the quotes attributed to you, and your group memberships. It is immediate and permanent, and it is available inside the app without emailing anyone.

Backups are kept for seven days and then discarded, so a deleted account is gone from backups within a week.

Children

Quotebook is not intended for anyone under 13, and we do not knowingly collect information from them. If you believe a child has created an account, write to us and it will be removed.

An adult can make a profile for a child who is not on Quotebook, to keep what they say. That profile holds only what its maker adds — a name and, optionally, a photo — and is seen only by the quotegroups where the child is quoted. The child has no account and nothing is collected from them. Whoever made the profile can remove it at any time, and a parent or guardian can ask us to remove one by writing to us.

Your rights

Depending on where you live you may have the right to access, correct, export, or erase your data. Deletion is built into the app; for anything else write to us and we will answer within 30 days.

Changes

If this policy changes materially, the app will say so before the change takes effect, and the date at the top will change.
