Terms of Use

Quotebook · Last updated 20 September 2026

Quotebook is an app for writing down things the people in your life actually said. Because it holds words attributed to real, named people, it asks more of you than most apps do. These terms are the deal.

There is no tolerance for abusive content or abusive behaviour. Every report is reviewed by a person within 24 hours. Content that breaks these rules is removed, and accounts that break them are suspended or terminated.

1. Who can use Quotebook

You must be at least 13 years old, and old enough to form a binding contract where you live. One account per person. You are responsible for what happens under your account, so keep your password to yourself.

2. What you may not post

You agree not to record, upload, or share:

3. Quoting real people

Quotebook exists to keep a record of what people said, and it can be read by everyone in the quotegroup you post to. Only quote people you actually know, and only words they actually said. A quote of someone who has an account can only go in a quotegroup they are also in.

The person quoted decides what their quote says about them: they can confirm they said it, deny it, or leave it unverified. That answer is theirs alone — you cannot make it for them.

If someone asks you to take down a quote of them, take it down.

4. People who are not on Quotebook

You can quote someone who does not use Quotebook, either once as a name or as a profile you make and keep — for example a child without a phone. Those quotes always stay unverified, because the person cannot answer them, and everyone who sees them is told who made the profile. Only the person who made a profile can quote it.

You are responsible for everything on a profile you make. Only make one for someone you actually know, with a name and photo that they — or, for a child, their parent or guardian — would be comfortable with your quotegroup seeing. Never add private details such as where they live or go to school. You can remove a profile you made at any time, and its quotes stay only as a name.

5. Photos

Photos on quotes and profiles are checked automatically before anyone else can see them, and removed if they contain sexual content, graphic violence, or anything sexualising a minor. Only post photos you have the right to share, of people who would be comfortable with your quotegroup seeing them.

6. Reporting, blocking, and what we do about it

Every quote and every profile carries a report control, reachable from the ⋯ menu. Reports go to a person, not a filter.

You can also block anyone. Blocking is symmetric and total: neither of you sees the other's quotes, and neither of you can quote the other again. Undo it any time under Profile → Blocked accounts.

7. Your content

The quotes you write stay yours. You grant Quotebook only the permission it needs to run the service: to store your content and show it to the members of the quotegroups you post it to. We do not sell it, and we do not use it to train anything.

8. Ending it

You can delete your account at any time from Profile → Delete account. It removes your account and the content attached to it, permanently, and it is not reversible.

We may suspend or terminate an account that breaks these terms, and will say why where we can.

9. The boring but necessary part

Quotebook is provided "as is", without warranties of any kind. To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for indirect or consequential damages arising from your use of it. Nothing here limits liability that cannot be limited by law.

We may update these terms. Material changes will be announced in the app before they take effect, and the date at the top will change.
